Central Mexico Earthquake, Dompet Dhuafa USA To Send Indonesian Aid

A 7.1 Richter scale earthquake hit 12 kilometers South West of Axochiapan, State of Morelos in Central Mexico on Tuesday, September 19, at 13:14 CT.  Government sources informed the death toll at 331 people, 1819 injured, hundreds still missing, and 11,000 homes damaged.

The Mexican government is coordinating the national response through the following steps :
1) Humanitarian assistance to the affected population located in emergency shelters, food security and restoring of basic public services.
2) Detailed registration lists and assessments of affected infrastructure for restoring and rebuilding processes.
3) Rebuilding and debris removal.
Dompet Dhuafa USA, as a partner of Dompet Dhuafa, is sending aid to Mexico. Cut Zurnita, board member, will coordinate some relief projects with Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City on Wednesday (9/27). On its first response action, Dompet Dhuafa USA will provide foods, personal hygiene products, medicines, and tents. After an assessment is made, Dompet Dhuafa USA will determine next actions in Mexico, such as providing temporary education services or other services based on the needs of local communities.
