In Spring 2018, DAYA Center is launching our first inter-generational Angklung Class. Angklung is a traditional Indonesian musical instrument made of bamboo. The class will be held on Thursdays from 5:30pm-7:00pm. The Spring semester begins March 8th- all musical levels welcomed.

The Angklung Class will be taught by Dawn Werme Pratson. Dawn was the founding music specialist at the FACT (Folk Arts-Cultural Treasures Charter) School in Philadelphia and taught there from 2005 to 20016.  At FACTS she was exposed to several Asian folk arts, including Angklung, and travelled to Indonesia to experience and explore the culture in 2014. She earned a BA in music and dance at the University of Hartford/Hartt School of music and a Masters degree in Creative Arts in Therapy from Hahnemann/Drexel University. She is also certified in Orff-Schulwerk and is a licensed Dalcroze Eurhythmics educator. Her major instrument is flute and she also plays piano, recorder, percussion, including body percussion, and sings.
