The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Give gifts, for indeed gifts removes bad feeling from the chest. Do not let a person look down upon (the gifts given by his or) her neighbour, even if it be a sheep shank.” (Tirmidhi)
In Islam, gift giving is encouraged as an act of respect and to spread love to one another. This tradition is aimed as a reminder for us to be grateful for the blessings Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala has given to us.
The Eid Gift Basket is an annual program by Dompet Dhuafa USA, where gift baskets are distributed to poor Muslim families in Indonesia by the end of Ramadhan to share happiness as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
