Dompet Dhuafa USA proudly presents the progress report of the “Aku Temanmu” Counseling House program, the initiative funded by zakat contributions from Dompet Dhuafa USA donors. Launched in early 2024, this program has made a significant positive impact on thousands of beneficiaries. 

A Program Focused on Education and Empowerment 


The “Aku Temanmu” Counseling House aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental health through various educational and interactive activities. In addition to providing counseling services, the program engages the community through campaigns, seminars, and training sessions. Key activities include: 

  1. Counseling House Class: Mental health education seminars covering relevant and engaging topics, attracting over 100 participants per session. These sessions help attendees understand the importance of mental well-being and encourage them to become change agents in their communities.
  2. Aku Temanmu Goes to School: Targeting middle and high school students in Banten Province, this initiative reached 15 schools and one village community from July to December 2024, impacting a total of 1,488 students. Beyond the numbers, the program has helped students recognize the importance of mental well-being, fostering a culture of open discussions and reducing stigma surrounding mental health issues. Many participants have reported increased self-awareness and a better understanding of how to support their peers emotionally. Targeting middle and high school students in Banten Province, this initiative reached 15 schools and one village community from July to December 2024, impacting a total of 1,488 students. 
  3. Peer Counselor Assistance: This initiative trains volunteers to become peer counselors capable of providing basic psychological support to their peers. So far, 30 volunteers have completed the training and are prepared to offer emotional support within their circles. 
  4. Mental Health Campaign: Public awareness campaigns held at popular locations such as town squares and Car-Free Day events have engaged 406 individuals. These activities combine education with interactive games and challenges, making discussions about mental health more accessible. 
  5. IG Live “Teman Ngobrol” (Chat Buddy): Through Instagram Live sessions, the program creates an interactive platform for discussing mental health issues. Each session attracts an average of 213 viewers, who actively participate by asking questions and sharing experiences. 
  6. Counseling Services: Both online and in-person counseling services have assisted 90 clients between July and December 2024. The increasing satisfaction rates among clients highlight the program’s tangible impact on those seeking psychological support. 
  7. Youth Counselor Camp: This training program enhances leadership and management skills among members of school-based Youth Information and Counseling Centers (PIK-R). A total of 65 participants from 15 PIK-R and GenRe communities have benefited from this initiative. 
  8. Volunteer Upgrading II: Designed to foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among volunteers, this program has recognized 18 volunteers for their contributions to the mental health movement. 

A Significant Impact 

Throughout 2024, the “Aku Temanmu” Counseling House program has directly impacted 2,768 individuals through its various initiatives. This achievement underscores Dompet Dhuafa USA’s dedication to providing accessible and high-quality mental health services.
