Dompet Dhuafa reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Islamic social finance as a sustainable solution for global development by participating in the International Islamic Economics and Finance Conference for Sustainable Development (IFESDC) 2026, held on July 15–16 at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Bringing together policymakers, academics, financial institutions, and industry leaders from Southeast Asia, the United States, and beyond, the conference highlighted how innovation, digital transformation, and ethical finance can foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Representing Dompet Dhuafa, Dr. Ahmad Juwaini, Chairman of Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation, shared insights during a panel discussion on the transformative role of Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf (ZISWAF). He emphasized that Islamic social finance is not merely a charitable mechanism, but a strategic instrument capable of reducing poverty, strengthening communities, and supporting long-term sustainable development.
The conference was officially opened by H.E. Indroyono Soesilo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States, who underscored that prosperity is most meaningful when it is shared, innovation must remain inclusive, and development should always be guided by ethical values.
As one of the conference sponsors, Dompet Dhuafa also showcased its 33 years of experience in managing Islamic philanthropy through an exhibition booth operated by Dompet Dhuafa USA, one of its international branches led by Executive Director Sitti Sahro Locke, M.Ed. Visitors learned about the organization’s flagship programs, fundraising initiatives, and community empowerment efforts across economic development, education, healthcare, humanitarian response, and da’wah. The booth also served as a platform to introduce best practices in managing ZISWAF and demonstrate how Islamic philanthropy creates measurable and sustainable impact for vulnerable communities.
IFESDC 2026 featured distinguished speakers and experts from leading institutions, including the World Bank, Columbia University, Georgetown University, DinarStandard, Guidance Residential, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI), Sinbad Capital, the Islamic Bank of Thailand, and the National Commission of Muslim Filipinos. Discussions explored a broad range of topics, from artificial intelligence and digital financial security to halal industry development, human capital, and the future of global Islamic finance.
