Fidyah Distribution

Fidyah Distribution

Dompet Dhuafa USA distributed foods to the homeless at Bailey’s Shelter and Supportive Housing in Virginia, United States, to celebrate the arrival of Ramadan 1443H.

Hadi Joyowidarbo, Executive Director of Dompet Dhuafa USA, visited Bailey’s Shelter and Supportive Housing on March 31, 2022, to distribute pizza to the homeless residents. As many as 90 homeless welcomed and thanked the donors who had shared their happiness with them.

This food distribution is a program for distributing fidyah funds that were collected prior to the arrival of Ramadan 1443H. Fidyah means to redeem or replace in Arabic. Fidyah is a donation that must be paid by a Muslim when they missed Ramadan fast. Fidyah is given to the impoverished based on the number of days remaining, i.e., one fidyah for one day for one impoverished, and the giving can be done all at once.

Dompet Dhuafa USA will continue to try to assist donors in channeling kindness to those in need.
