In the spirit of Eid al-Fitr, we at Dompet Dhuafa USA were honored to share the joy of the holiday with orphaned children in Indonesia through our program, “Eid Gift Basket for Orphans.”

Through this initiative, we distributed Eid gift packages to 120 children across three child welfare institutions: LKSA Sakinah in Depok, LKSA Kampung Melayu in South Jakarta, and LKSA Al-Qi Ceria in Bogor. Each gift basket was thoughtfully prepared so that every child could celebrate Eid with a sense of dignity and happiness.

In collaboration with our partners at ID Humanity Dompet Dhuafa, this effort was made possible by the generosity of our donors in the United States, individuals who believe in extending compassion beyond borders.

“Our goal is to bring joy to children who celebrate Eid without the presence of their parents or families,” shared Maya Nur Aini, Partnership Manager at ID Humanity Dompet Dhuafa. “We hope these gifts serve not only as a source of happiness, but also as encouragement for them to grow in faith and become a positive force in their communities.”

Each package included Eid clothing and prayer essentials, items that carry both practical and spiritual meaning during this special time.

For the children, the impact was immediate and heartfelt. Angelina Mela, one of the recipients from Al-Qi Ceria Orphanage in Bogor, expressed her excitement as she opened her gift.

“I’m so happy to receive this. There’s a dress, a mukenah, and a prayer mat. The dress is beautiful. I really love the color,” she said with a bright smile.

Caregivers also shared their gratitude. Kiki, a staff member at Al-Qi Ceria, reflected on the deeper meaning behind the initiative.

“We are truly thankful to the donors of Dompet Dhuafa USA. These gifts remind the children that they are seen, loved, and supported. May every act of kindness become a lasting source of goodness,” she shared.

At Dompet Dhuafa USA, we believe that giving goes beyond meeting needs. It is about restoring hope, strengthening faith, and building connections rooted in compassion. This Eid, we are grateful to be part of a moment that brings not only happiness, but also a sense of belonging to those who need it most.
