Situated in Dusun Patinia, Kawa Seram, Maluku, TPQ Patinia was established in 2017 and has quickly become a vital center for Qur’anic learning, serving over 100 students, including young children and mothers. Despite limited infrastructure, the village’s passion for learning can be sustained thanks to the unwavering dedication of their sole instructor, Ustadz Hasan Lukaraja.
Ustadz Hasan’s Hard Work and Dedication
For a long time, Ustad Hasan has devoted his time and energy to teaching students in a modest classroom, measuring just 4 by 2 meters. This modest space, built from wooden planks and characterized by a bare dirt floor, also functions as Ustadz Hasan’s residence. With only a small mat on the ground, enthusiastic students gathered each day, eager to learn the Quran. The room often became overcrowded, with both children and mothers occupying the limited space, which presented challenges for effective instruction.
Ustadz Hasan’s steadfast commitment to imparting Qur’anic knowledge under challenging conditions has profoundly resonated with us. It became increasingly apparent that the community’s desire for education significantly outstripped the existing resources. This situation highlights the urgent need for a better learning environment—one that provides a safe and respectful space for students to engage in their studies comfortably and diligently.
