North Aceh, Indonesia — For families recovering from the impact of disasters, meeting everyday needs can become increasingly difficult. Access to essential healthcare can be one of the challenges faced by families with limited financial resources.

In response to this need, Dompet Dhuafa USA, in collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa Aceh, implemented the Khitan Anak Ceria Program in North Aceh, providing free circumcision services and financial assistance to children from underprivileged families, particularly those affected by disasters.

The two-day program was held on June 17–18, 2026, at the Geuchik Offices of Gampong Padang Meuria in Langkahan District and Gampong Babah Jurong in Sawang District, North Aceh Regency. A total of 50 children received free circumcision services and assistance through the program.

Expanding Access to Essential Healthcare

For families facing economic hardship, healthcare-related expenses can add to the financial pressures they already experience. Through Khitan Anak Ceria, Dompet Dhuafa seeks to reduce some of that burden by providing access to circumcision services at no cost to participating families.

The program was supported by healthcare personnel from Dompet Dhuafa Aceh and local village authorities. Coordination with the village governments was carried out throughout the implementation process to organize the flow of services across both locations and ensure that each child received safe, comfortable, and appropriate care.

This collaboration was an important part of ensuring that the program could reach children in the targeted communities while maintaining an organized and supportive environment for participants and their families.

50 Children, Meaningful Support for Their Families

Over the course of the two-day program, 50 children from underprivileged families received free circumcision services and financial assistance.

For the families involved, the assistance provided more than access to a healthcare service. It also helped ease some of the financial burden associated with their children’s needs.

The program documentation captures children participating in the circumcision activities and receiving assistance alongside healthcare workers, community representatives, and local stakeholders.

A Warm Welcome from the Community

The program received a positive response from the local community. Nurbafri, Geuchik (Village Head) of Gampong Babah Jurong, expressed his appreciation for the initiative and emphasized how meaningful the assistance has been for families still recovering from the impact of the disaster.

“Alhamdulillah, the community has greatly benefited from this free circumcision program. Some families are still facing economic challenges as they recover, so assistance like this means a great deal to them. We are grateful to Dompet Dhuafa USA, the donors, and Dompet Dhuafa Aceh for bringing this program to our community.”

The community’s response highlights the importance of assistance that addresses practical needs during recovery. For families whose economic circumstances have not yet fully recovered, access to free healthcare services can help reduce some of the financial pressures they face.

Strengthening Community Collaboration

The implementation of Khitan Anak Ceria was made possible through collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa USA, Dompet Dhuafa Aceh, healthcare personnel, local village authorities, and the surrounding community.

Local government support played an important role in coordinating activities at the two program locations, while the healthcare team provided the services needed by the participating children. The report identifies strong collaboration among the parties involved as one of the key factors supporting the successful implementation of the program.

Beyond providing healthcare services, the initiative contributed to strengthening social solidarity and community cooperation as part of the recovery process for communities affected by disasters in Aceh Utara.

Supporting Recovery, One Family at a Time

Community recovery is not only about rebuilding physical infrastructure. It also involves ensuring that families can continue to access essential services and that children receive the support they need. Through Khitan Anak Ceria, 50 children received free circumcision services and assistance, while their families received support to help ease their financial burden.

For Dompet Dhuafa USA, supporting initiatives such as this means extending assistance beyond immediate disaster response and contributing to the longer process of community recovery. A healthcare service may last only a day, but its impact can be part of a family’s journey toward recovery and stability.

Through continued collaboration and donor support, Dompet Dhuafa USA remains committed to expanding access to essential services and bringing meaningful assistance to communities facing hardship.
