We are excited to share wonderful news with our community, Sitti Sahro Harahap Locke has joined us as our new Executive Director! 

Known fondly as Sarah or Sahro, she brings with her not only a wealth of professional experience but also a heart deeply dedicated to education, empowerment, and building bridges across cultures and faiths. 

A Lifelong Passion for Education 

Sahro’s journey in education spans more than twenty years. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Universitas Negeri Jakarta and George Mason University, Virginia, following her Bachelor’s degree in Science Education from Universitas Islam Negeri Yogyakarta. 

Her academic and professional path reflects her lifelong belief that education is not only about learning, but also about empowering individuals and strengthening communities. 

Building Bridges Across Cultures and Faiths 

Beyond the classroom, Sahro has dedicated herself to creating platforms that bring people together. She is the founder and leader of several nonprofit organizations in both Indonesia and the United States, including SEKBER PEREMPUAN, INDONESIA RELIEF USA, IMAAM, COMFASION, and EDUSINDO BAGASGODANG. 

Through these efforts, she has helped countless individuals find opportunities for growth, connection, and support; whether in education, social services, or interfaith cooperation. 

A Leader with Global Experience 

Sahro has worked as an educator, curriculum specialist, and community liaison in diverse environments, from Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia to IMAAM in Maryland and the Consulate General of Indonesia for Hajj Affairs in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Her global perspective allows her to see both the challenges and opportunities in bringing communities together. 

Recognized for Her Dedication 

Her commitment to service has earned her recognition, including the Moms Network Role Model Award (2023) and a Leadership Award from the Pentagon and DLA Iftar Female Committee (2025). These honors highlight not just her leadership skills, but her compassion and vision for creating meaningful change.

As she steps into her new role, Sahro is committed to strengthening our mission; expanding access to education, nurturing interfaith collaboration, and building harmony across cultures. We are thrilled to welcome her leadership and can’t wait to see the impact we will create together with your continued support.
