Gift for Orphans
Every Ramadan, Dompet Dhuafa aims to put a smile on the face of orphans.There are many children in Indonesia that have lost their parents since a very young age. These children are not only orphaned from a young age, but they also come from destitute families.
Take Haura Aqila as an example. She is an 8-year old girl who has lost her father. “Dad passed away last year because of diabetes. Now I live with my mother who sells fritters in front of our home.”
Oftentimes, we find it very easy to purchase things that we want. We don’t even have to think twice whether we can afford a $20-$30 bag from the department store. We can even do this from a click through the internet. This is not the case for these destitute orphan children.
Through our yearly program of Gift for Orphans, Dompet Dhuafa USA strives to help these children experience happiness on Eid al Fitr!
This year, we are working together with Dompet Dhuafa East Java in making this mission successful. The event will take place at the mall where we invite orphans from 3 orphanages and take them shopping and as well as to have fun at the playground. Finally, we would also give each child a gift which includes:
- Money
- Voucher for Shopping
- School materials
- A ticket to a playground at the Mall
For the shopping, the children are given the opportunity to purchase things that they need and want such as clothes, shoes, books, dolls, food, etc.
